Born at Woodhull Hospital on October 26, 1983, Garry was going to be different. A helper, a solution finder, Garry always found a way to get things done. Garry attended Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY and earned an Associate Degree in Nursing. Later he attended Lehman College in the Bronx to work on his Bachelor’s degree but ultimately finished at Capella University. Prior to his collegial studies, Garry worked as an EMT and became a Paramedic. Garry worked for over 8 years in NYC 911 system. In 2007, he joined the F.D.N.Y. where he work for 5 years as a Paramedic. Garry is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Nursing Practice.
After the short stint working for the city as a Paramedic, Garry began his career as a Registered Nurse. He worked for 9 years as an Emergency Nurse and 6 years as an I.C.U. nurse. With his experience as a Paramedic, going into Emergency Nursing was a great fit. Later he developed a love for intensive care. He worked as a Cardio-Thoracic I.C.U. Nurse and an Medical Intensive Nurse for a few years.
In early 2020, a pandemic was on the horizon. Unbeknownst to himself, he found himself caring for patient zero. The first patient who had the infamous Coronavirus would be under his care at a NY hospital. Watching the development and mishandling of the pandemic, Garry said we could all do better. In August, 2020, Garry decided he will run for Mayor. It's time for change.
